One of our friends, who happens to be a professional photographer, has finally stopped carrying her bulky SLR everywhere she goes. She used to look like a tourist! When I asked her what prompted the change this was what she had to say:
“As a freelance photographer I often take quality photographs of anything that catches my eye with my iPhone and I can sell these to a stock photography company or even use them for my clientele. My iPhone is small and light and fits into my pocket. Carrying a camera and lenses can often be too much.”
She’s right, I’ve held her camera gear! iPhones have become extremely well suited to taking photos as cameras have become more advanced. With smartphone apps such as Instagram and Pinterest everyone is taking photos for social sharing. Even a first time photographer can snap a picture and use a filter to give it a Photoshopped finish.
There’s a saying, “The best camera is the one you have with you.” This is entirely true, there are so many once in a lifetime moments that would never have been caught on camera without the use of iPhones. The iPhone is particularly suited to photography as its built-in camera features are amazing and produce very high quality photos. And there are hundreds of apps in the Apple app store which can be used to edit or take high-quality photos and share them with family, friends – even the world.
